The Challenge

Mount Hermon Safari Cottages sits on the banks of the Kafue River in the Lower Zambezi Game Management Area. It offers 28 acres of private, secluded bush for families who want to escape city life, combining the quiet of the African wilderness with the warmth of village life. The challenge was to turn that sense of silence, balance and seclusion into a brand. Mount Hermon needed an identity that felt natural yet refined. The logo, typography and visual assets had to promise a restful retreat and give travellers the confidence to book a remote, off-the-grid destination.

Our Approach and Solution

We developed a nature-first brand identity and used the same design principles to shape the website. Every visual choice was made to reflect the calm of the Lower Zambezi.

Crafting an Organic Emblem

Logo Design and Metaphor

We designed a custom logo that captures independence and natural sanctuary. Simple, elegant lines hint at the flow of the Kafue River, and a structured geometry suggests a safe family haven. Together they present Mount Hermon as a private retreat.

Establishing a Calming Typographic System

Typography Selection

To reflect the client's aim of bringing "life back into balance", we chose a clear typographic hierarchy. A classic serif typeface for headlines carries quiet elegance and a sense of heritage. A clean, readable sans-serif for body text keeps reading easy in print and online.

Designing for the Digital Wilderness

Web and Visual Translation

We carried the new identity straight into the website. An earth-toned palette of deep river greens, warm sunset tones and organic textures echoes the 28-acre property. The layout is built around space and breathing room, to reflect the stillness and seclusion of a stay at the cottages.

The Outcome

Mount Hermon Safari Cottages now has a logo, a colour palette and a typographic system that work together in print and online. The brand presents it as a private Lower Zambezi retreat, aimed at families and safari lovers who want to reconnect with nature without losing style or substance.
